The23rd Israel Film Festival (IFF) in New York celebrates Israel's 60th Anniversary with the NY Premiere of THE LITTLE TRAITOR written/directed/produced by Lynn Roth was held at the Clearview Cinema, Saturday, November 1, 2008, 7:45 PM. An exclusive Q&A with Emmy Award nominee director Lynn Roth was held Sunday, November 2nd.
ME: What inspired the making of the feature film THE LITTLE TRAITOR?
LR: THE LITTLE TRAITOR was written based on the story by novelist Amos Oz called Panther in the Basement. Amos is one of
Israeli's famous authors and it deals with the British mandate in 1947, when
the British occupied Palestine. It's a period in history that has been
addressed infrequent in film.
ME: What film festivals have THE LITTLE TRAITOR been introduced? Did it win awards?
LR: THE LITTLE TRAITOR has been in many film festivals. The premiere was held at The Los Angeles Jewish Film Festival, where we won the Audience Favorite Film Award. It has been in the Miami International Film Festival, Palm Beach International Film Festival where we won the Audience Award, Rio de Janeiro International Film Festival, Stockholm International Film Festival, Nashville Jewish Film Festival, Munich Film Festival, and many others. The film opens Thursday, December 18, 2008, in Israel. We will be opening theatrically in France and Mexico.
ME: Any new projects soon to follow?
LR: Yes, I optioned another book from an Israeli author that will be my next project; plus another project that takes place in New York City based on a true story, a composer who was exiled during the Holocaust.
ME: Thank you, Ms. Roth.
